Ingress Protection IP Testing

ITC India is an IP testing lab expert in ingress protection testing. Lab is well equipped with all the facilities for IP testing. Competent engineer are testing the product, providing flaws to the manufacturer to improve the products as well. The testing chargers are very economical. Lab is NABL accredited having full scope in IP testing. ITC is has also Accredited lab in Electrical, electronics and photometry discipline.

Today is a scenario of buying genuine products, which are safe to use and are worth of money.  Purchaser satisfies himself fully before buying any product. So, a product is tested in many ways before,  it is launched in the market for you. IP testing is one of them, which is used to test an indoor or outdoor product’s resistance to water, dust and other foreign objects.

IP testing is generally be done according to IEC 60529. After the testing , it is accessed whether a product has the protection against ingress of solid particles and/or liquids, varying over different degree of protection, depending upon the requirement. IEC 60529 deals only with the enclosures that are in all other respects suitable for their intended use as specified in the relevant product standard and which from the point of view of materials and workmanship ensure that the claimed degree of protection are maintained under the normal conditions of use.

This standard is also applicable to empty enclosures provided that general test requirements are met and that selected degree of protection is suitable for the type of equipment to be protected.

Measures to protect both the enclosure and the equipment inside the enclosure against external influences or conditions such as:

  • Mechanical impacts
  • Corrosion
  • Corrosive solvent
  • Fungus
  • Vermin
  • Solar radiations
  • Icing
  • Moisture
  • Explosive atmosphere

The level of protection is signified by a number “IP 67” here the first number represents ingress protection against solid particle and the second number represents the protection against liquids. We would like to discuss about the IP codes in details in our next article.
