Salt Spray Testing
Salt Spray Test Method is widely used method to determine and evaluate the strength of corrosion resistance of metals and coated surface. This test has gained worldwide popularity due to low cost and quick results. The Test is conducted as its name indicate with salt. A Standardize Test Chamber is used to produce the corrosion environment with the help of temperature and humidity. 5% of Nacl is Used to Produce this corrosive environment as per standard.
Typical coatings that can be evaluated with this method are:
- Phosphated (pre-treated) surfaces (with subsequent paint/primer/lacquer/rust preventive)
- Zinc and zinc-alloy plating Electroplated chromium, nickel, copper, tin
- Organic coatings, such as rust preventives
- Paint Coating
